Well, I don't know..for a dyed in the wool "yellow dog liberal" like myself, I strangely find myself stepping out of character in this incident.
I am not not, nor have I have ever been a strong fan of Don Imus. But let's put a few things in perspective here. He's and old man, certainly not at the peak of his mental prowness. And in fact he said an almost surrealislisticly stupid thing. What he was thinking, I don't know.
However in the contest of the "gansta rap lyrics" performed mainly by African American artists, the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and their activistic breathern have been , with the exeption of a few "slaps on the wrists" silent. I guess black artists have an intrinsic right to denigrate, females.."ho's, encourge violence and in general say whatever they desire with litte or now fear from the militant black activists.
Trist me.....Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson (who is irrevelent as a mainstream politicion these days) are creatures of another era.
Mainsream black politicians, who are attempting to reach out to members of all races would do well to distance these folks from their acctivities. I like Obama and who knows, I may wind up casting my vote for him. I belive that he could repersent all of us. Let's see.
